Rohan and Kieran drive from Licola over Billy Goat Bluff towards Mount Skene: gravel climbs, winter tracks and a wet, potholed road.
“Very controlled and smooth.”

Fidgety over small bumps? Nose-down when you brake, head-toss on a rough road? Erebus replaces the four dampers with oleo-pneumatic units set up for the Grenadier’s weight and the way you load it: supple over the small stuff, firm when the hits get bigger.

Erebus takes the place of the four dampers. Inside each unit, nitrogen does the springing: the more it compresses, the firmer it gets. Hydraulic oil controls the movement. The two work together, so the small bumps stay soft and the big ones meet more resistance.

GrenX filmed this trip on Nimbus Vibranium, the unit before Erebus. They have since decided to upgrade to Erebus.
From Virginia to Abu Dhabi, in their own words.
I can’t describe how the car changed completely on the road. It’s very soft and smooth. No vibration, nothing. It feels like a Range Rover.
To be honest, it was the best investment ever.
The Grenadier is super smooth. Any little road chatter or bumps are eliminated.
It’s soft at the very top of the stroke, making it very comfortable, but gets stiff quickly over normal road bumps and going into corners, making it way more drivable than stock.
Now, with nearly 10,000 on- and off-road miles, I’m convinced. The stability and ride quality are exceptional, whether on DC’s pothole-ridden streets or the rugged trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We used them to scout a racecourse in Portugal, driving a stock Grenadier with five people on board, chatting calmly the whole time.
We handled jumps without the slightest issue and went over bumps with impressive comfort.
And despite doing about ten laps with a vehicle weighing nearly 3 tons, there wasn’t the slightest hint of overheating.
Erebus fits the Grenadier Base, Fieldmaster, Trialmaster and 1924 Edition, and the Quartermaster.
